Boring Details

I'll add an operating system with an updated version of one of the Linux distributions like Linux Mint. With a laptop, include power cord, for a PC, only the computer is required. You'll drop off the computer at my house in Shadowbriar, and pick it up when it's ready. No hardware repairs, just installation of a new operating system. Feel free to email or text me with questions or comments. 

What you will get: An easy to use, faster PC or laptop, suitable for email, web surfing, banking, texting, pictures, videos, etc. It will be very much safer from online attack than the old Windows installation. The original Windows operating system will be left alone, untouched and readily accessible, but you should probably not use Windows without updates. Windows 8 is losing support from Microsoft in January of 2023, but you may be able to upgrade to Windows 10 and get a few more years of security and other updates. 

We will first verify that your computer is a working 64 bit machine. If Windows is working, verification is simple. In Windows, click on the lower left corner of your desktop. Then right click on "Computer", then click on "Properties" at bottom. A whole bunch of information about your computer will display, including verification of 64 bit. Probably any post 2007 computer is fine.

Linux Mint is a favorite Linux distribution of mine. If you are computer savvy you don't need me. You can download and install it on your computer.

Requirements: 

A working Windows PC or laptop less than about fifteen years old. It should be 64 bit machine, as I have had a small but persistent issue some websites with my twenty year old 32 bit machine. No cables, keyboard, mouse required. If you need me to connect a printer, bring the printer and its cables.

Disclaimer: Adding this operating operating system will not harm the hardware in your computer, but I am not responsible for an older machine's hardware failures or issues. Also you are responsible for backing up your data in case there is an extremely rare catastrophic event that affects your Windows installation.
